Undaunted: Daring to do what God calls you to do (Grand Rapids, MI: Zondervan, 2012)

Christine CaineChristine Caine offers life-transforming insights about how not only to overcome the challenges, wrong turns, and often painful circumstances we all experience, but also to actually grow from those experiences and be equipped and empowered to help others.

Using her own dramatic life story, Caine shows how God rescued her from a life where she was unnamed, unwanted, and unqualified. She tells how she overcame abuse, abandonment, fears, and other challenges to go on a mission of adventure, fueled by faith and filled with love and courage. Her personal stories inspire readers to hear their name called, just as Christine heard her own – “You are beloved. You are the hope. You are chosen” – to go into a dark and troubled world, knowing each of us possess all it takes to bring hope, create change, and live completely for Christ.

Part inspirational tale, part manifesto to stir readers to lives of adventure, Undaunted shows the way with spiritual wisdom and insight.

“He does not ask, Are you capable? He asks are you willing?”

Undaunted by Christine Caine surprised me. I wasn’t sure what it was about when I chose to review it. It just looked interesting. The second chapter tells of how her brother found out he was adopted and as the truth keeps coming, she finds out she is also. As a year passed, she sent away for official papers on her adoption. What Christine found wasn’t what she was prepared for. The papers came. She learned her father was unknown, that she had been unnamed, and that her mother was in a hurry to get back to work. That had to be so difficult to read. Yet, she overcame the feeling of unworthiness and did amazing things for God. This book is based on her life and her life stories. She shares from the heart and is open about her past. She shares how she starts her own organization called A21 for sex trafficking. It is definitely worth reading and realizing that being called by God is an honor, not a chore.Amber

War Room – now on DVD! (Sony Pictures Home Entertainment, 2015)

From the award-winning creators of Fireproof and Courageous comes War Room, a compelling drama with humor and heart that explores the power that prayer can have on marriages, parenting, careers, friendships, and every other area of our lives.

War Room MovieTony and Elizabeth Jordan have it all – great jobs, a beautiful daughter, and their dream house.
But appearances can be deceiving. Tony and Elizabeth Jordan’s world is actually crumbling under the strain of a failing marriage. While Tony basks in his professional success and flirts with temptation, Elizabeth resigns herself to increasing bitterness.

The War Room

But their lives take an unexpected turn when Elizabeth meets her newest client, Miss Clara, and is challenged to establish a “war room” and a battle plan of prayer for her family. As Elizabeth tries to fight for her family, Tony’s hidden struggles come to light. Tony must decide if he will make amends to his family and prove Miss Clara’s wisdom that victories don’t come by accident.

This movie is oe [sic] that will stir your heart. It is thought provoking and filled with many things that may cause one to examie their own heart. To some it may seem to miss the mark (I sy this based on other reviews I read about the movie), but if you have an open mind to the Lord and through prayer seek to get an understanding I am certain you will see the beauty in this film and how it is a tool that can and I believe will help turn peoples hearts away from their selfishness and become more forgiving. Given the time constraints on making a movie and time that most viewers are willing to sit in the theatre I believe this movie does a great job in relaying it’s message.SassyBoomerSK

Fervent: A Woman’s Battle Plan to Serious, Specific and Strategic Prayer (Nashville, TN: B&H Books, 2015)

Priscilla ShirerYou have an enemy . . . and he’s dead set on destroying all you hold dear and keeping you from experiencing abundant life in Christ. What’s more, his approach to disrupting your life and discrediting your faith isn’t general or generic, not a one-size-fits-all. It’s specific. Personalized. Targeted.

So this book is your chance to strike back. With prayer. With a weapon that really works. Each chapter will guide you in crafting prayer strategies that hit the enemy where it hurts, letting him know you’re on to him and that you won’t back down. Because with every new strategy you build, you’re turning the fiercest battles of life into precise strikes against him and his handiwork, each one infused with the power of God’s Spirit.

New York Times bestselling author Priscilla Shirer, widely known for her international speaking, teaching, and writing ministries, brings her new role from the 2015 film War Room into the real lives of today’s women, addressing the topics that affect them most: renewing their passion, refocusing their identity, negotiating family strife, dealing with relentless regrets, navigating impossible schedules, succeeding against temptation, weathering their worst fears, uprooting bitterness, and more. Each chapter exposes the enemy’s cruel, crafty intentions in all kinds of these areas, then equips and encourages you to write out your own personalized prayer strategies on tear-out sheets you can post and pray over yourself and your loved ones on a regular basis.

Fervent is a hands-on, knees-down, don’t-give-up action guide to practical, purposeful praying.

“This means war!” Priscilla has written a book on prayer that is as practical as they come. It’s not a theoretical dissertation on prayer. It’s a nuts and bolts ‘let’s get on our knees and get after it’ guide. Step by step coverage of ten different areas of your life: passion, focus, identity, family, past, fears, purity, pressures, hurts and relationships. She includes numerous specific scriptures for each of these ten areas. If this book doesn’t motivate you in the war against the enemy of your soul I don’t know what will. ‘Prayer is the portal that brings the power of heaven down to earth. It is kryptonite to the enemy and to all his ploys against you….His reign of terror stops here. Stops now. He might keep coming, but he won’t have victory anymore.’ Karen Cassidy
Priscilla Shirer has a way of making the subject of prayer easy to understood and explains spiritual warfare in a manner that is real. She includes many personal testimonies which lets you know she has been in the battle; she gives bible based strategies that she has personally used in warfare. She reiterates that we are in the battle whether we like it or not, whether we think we are in it or not. This is a GREAT book for those wanting to learn about prayer and concerned that the subject may be too difficult to read or comprehend. She guides you compassionately each step of the way. Her encouragement throughout the book is definitely heart felt. I also liked the blank prayer cards at the back of the book.Linda Pallares
