Stressing Out & Holding On

Trust in The LordWe all hold on to something. Especially during times of stress.

  • Linus held on to his blanket.
  • Cinderella, to her dream.
  • Snow White, to hope.

Those things are all positive. Even helpful. Perhaps. But we can also hold on to negative things.

  • Hurt. Fear.
  • Defensiveness.
  • The need to be right.
  • Pride. Self-righteousness.
  • Anger. Bitterness. Resentment.

We learn that stuff from the World.

Let’s face it, if you haven’t yet figured out how much your Creator loves you, holding on to defensiveness is your best strategy for survival.

But if you want to live a full life – the one that your Creator has planned for you – you’ll need to unlearn that kind of stuff & allow Him to replace it with Something Better to hold on to: His Love.

The Lord is my strength & my shield;
    my heart trusts in Him, & He helps me.
My heart leaps for joy,
    & with my song I praise Him. Psalm 28:7

Trust in the Lord with all your heart
   & lean not on your own understanding;
in all your ways submit to Him,
   & He will make your paths straight. Proverbs 3:5-6

Today Could Be the Day

When two full years had passed, Pharaoh had a dream. Joseph was no where near him at the time. From where he sat in prison, nothing reasonable had happened. His last logical hope had been yet another disappointment. Joseph had no way of knowing what was about to happen.

[callout]Joseph would not have been prepared
for his Suddenly had he not trusted The Lord.[/callout]

Thirteen years earlier – give or take – Joseph had had a Dream of his own. He saw himself in charge of Something Big. He knew his Dream was from God, and he had no idea how to make it happen. But God did.

So Joseph trusted God. Even when …

  • his brothers sold him into slavery
  • he was accused of and imprisoned for something he did not do
  • all reasonable hope had failed to produce the result he was expecting

So much evidence pointed in the opposite direction of Joseph’s Dream. Yet God was at work. Doing things Joseph knew nothing about. Putting things in place. Preparing Joseph’s heart.

Then Suddenly he went from prison to palace.
In just One Day everything turned around. Genesis 41

Today could be the day of your Suddenly.
Are you prepared for it?
