Debi Smith, PsyD, is a Licensed Psychologist (PSY21711) whose goal is to reduce the divorce rate in Southern California. Her primary approach to helping couples is through Emotionally Focused Couple Therapy, which is based on current scientific research and works well for non-Christians and Christians alike. A skilled clinical supervisor, Dr. Smith offers training opportunities for postdoctoral and doctoral students who are seeking to refine their skills as couples therapists. Psychology of Men This course provides a brief survey of biblical, sociocultural, and psychological views of traditional men and masculinity. Particular attention is given to Attachment Theory and current research in understanding the impact of normative experiences on men’s intrapersonal and interpersonal development. Psychology of Personality This course acquaints students with the various basic elements of personality and their integration. Students explore concepts regarding the basic components of personality and the processes that undergird an individual’s growth and behavior. Human Growth & Development This study of human development across the life span emphasizes a multidisciplinary perspective, including such areas as psychology, sociology, processes as social interaction, and the tools for applying developmental psychology to life situations.
