Perspectives

God's ways

You have a perspective on where you are now. In your relationship. And in your life. So does your mate. They never line up perfectly. If they did, one of you wouldn’t be necessary.

You may suspect that The Lord’s point of view is different than either of yours. It’s not that you and your mate are totally wrong about life. You just have a limited view of what’s really happening. Not only in The Natural World. But especially in the Spiritual Realm.

The Holy Spirit wants to help you change that.

“For my thoughts are not your thoughts,
neither are your ways my ways,” declares the Lord.
“As the heavens are higher than the earth,
so are my ways higher than your ways
and my thoughts than your thoughts. Isaiah 55:8-9

Call to me and I will answer you and tell you great and unsearchable things you do not know. Jeremiah 33:3

I keep asking that the God of our Lord Jesus Christ, the glorious Father, may give you the Spirit of wisdom and revelation, so that you may know him better. Ephesians 1:17

Distractions or Directions

Meanwhile, the moment we get tired in the waiting, God’s Spirit is right alongside helping us along. If we don’t know how or what to pray, it doesn’t matter. Romans 8:26

He does our praying in and for us, making prayer out of our wordless sighs, our aching groans. He knows us far better than we know ourselves, knows our pregnant condition, and keeps us present before God. That’s why we can be so sure that every detail in our lives of love for God is worked into something good. Romans 8:26-28

Because we spend our days in The Natural, we often miss what’s happening in the Heavenly Realm. But there are lots of clues. We just need to learn how to read them.

Paul said that God works everything out for our good.

That is, when we love The Lord and are called according to His purposes. Everything. Absolutely everything. That means there’s a treasure to be found in every circumstance.

So what’s happening in your life right now can serve as a distraction from God’s purposes for you. Or it can point you in the direction of His purpose.

It all depends on how you look at it.

My response is to get down on my knees before the Father, this magnificent Father who parcels out all heaven and earth. I ask him to strengthen you by his Spirit—not a brute strength but a glorious inner strength—that Christ will live in you as you open the door and invite him in. And I ask him that with both feet planted firmly on love, you’ll be able to take in with all followers of Jesus the extravagant dimensions of Christ’s love. Reach out and experience the breadth! Test its length! Plumb the depths! Rise to the heights! Live full lives, full in the fullness of God. Ephesians 3:14-19

Heart & Soul

The first song I learned on the piano was Heart & Soul. Okay, it was actually Chopsticks. But that’s not the more romantic tune in my repertoire. I haven’t played either for ages. But I could sit down at any keyboard anytime anywhere and play them. Flawlessly.

Do you remember when you first met Jesus?

He loved you so much that He broke into your conscious awareness and – with your permission – took up residence in Your Heart. And He has no intention to leave you. Not ever. No matter what. He’s more persistent than Chopsticks. And more persistent than that charming little Disneyland diddy that sticks in your head, It’s a Small World.

Most of us don’t recognize His Spirit at work in us everyday. But He’s there. Persistently. And He has a plan. A flawless plan. For you. Your Soul will always be trying to catch up.

Just quiet Your Soul and listen.
Because Your Heart knows the Truth.

We love because he first loved us. 1 John 4:19

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2
