The Beauty of Marriage

The Lord had Romance on His mind while He was doing surgery on Adam.

It’s true that Adam lost something in the process.

However, the Lord knew that what he would gain in the process would be Priceless – especially in terms of his lifelong health and happiness.

Created for One Another

God said, “It is not good for the man to be alone.
I will make a helper suitable for him.” GENESIS 2:18

So The Lord God caused the man to fall into a deep sleep; and while he was sleeping, he took one of the man’s ribs and then closed up the place with flesh. Then the Lord God made a woman from the rib he had taken out of the man, and he brought her to the man.

The man said,

This is now bone of my bones
and flesh of my flesh;

she shall be called “woman,”
    for she was taken out of man.” GENESIS 2:21-23

Redeemed for One Another

A lot went sideways for Adam and Eve in the Next Chapter of Genesis. As they entertained the idea of being something other than they were created to be, they experienced intense

  • Doubt
  • Shame
  • Fear

But it also foretold their Redemption. Because God never allows a challenge to your identity without the opportunity to step into something better instead.

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above … Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. For you died, and your life is now hidden with Christ in God. COLOSSIANS 3:1-33

… as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another … as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them together.  COLOSSIANS 3:12-14
