Can we be good?

Christmas Day is the First Day of Christmas, not the last. Jesus came to fulfill God’s Promises. And He’s Our Reason to linger a little longer. So today’s our 4th Day of Celebration for Who God is for us! On the 4th Day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me Goodness.

Let’s face it – none of us is good. And we can never hope to live the life He has planned for us without it. Because we fight evil with good. So He gives His Goodness to us!

His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and goodness. Through these He has given us His very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

For this very reason, make every effort to add to your faith goodness; and to goodness, knowledge; and to knowledge, self-control; and to self-control, perseverance; and to perseverance, godliness; and to godliness, mutual affection; and to mutual affection, love.

For if you possess these qualities in increasing measure, they will keep you from being ineffective and unproductive in your knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. (2 Peter 1:3-8)

The Bottom Line: He gives us His Goodness and teaches us how to walk in it!
That means it’s both a “Done Deal” and an “Ongoing Process” we have with Him.

On the 3rd Day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me Truth. (John 14:6)
On the 2nd Day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me Forgiveness. (Psalm 130)
On the 1st Day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me Presence. (Matthew 1:23)

I wonder what other gifts Jesus has for us this Christmas!

Now to Him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to His power that is at work within us, to Him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

Have you opened your gift today?

In Olden Times, Christmas Day was the First Day of Christmas, not the last. Jesus fulfilled God’s Promise, and He’s Reason enough to linger a little longer in Celebration of our True Love and all the Gifts He brings to us.

So here goes with the 3rd verse of my remake on The 12 Days!

On the 3rd Day of Christmas,
my True Love gave to me
Truth.

So much of what we’ve all learned in this world is simply not Truth. That means we have a lot of unlearning to do in the process of learning to live in love. (an example)

  • You will know The Truth, and The Truth will set you free. (1 Corinthians 13)
  • The Truth is a person, and His Name is Jesus. (John 14:6)
  • You can believe and trust The Truth. (John 1:14)

On the 2nd Day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me Forgiveness. (Psalm 130)
On the 1st Day of Christmas, my True Love gave to me Presence. (Matthew 1:23)

I wonder what other gifts Jesus has for us.

“What no eye has seen,
    what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived” —
the things God has prepared for those who love him —

Suddenly he knew!

Joseph considered the evidence. Seriously. What man wouldn’t? His betrothed. His wife. Was pregnant. And he knew the baby wasn’t his. In those days, betrothal meant they were already husband and wife, although sex would wait until a year had passed.

* The betrothal period was a time of great anticipation for the bride as she waited for the arrival of her betrothed. She knew the approximate timing, but the exact hour or day was uncertain. The father of the groom was the one who would give the final approval for the marriage to begin.

So the groom’s arrival was to be a surprise!

However, the news of a baby meant Joseph’s plans would need to change.
Yes, from a legal standpoint, Mary was already his wife but they …

Because Joseph her husband was faithful to the law, and yet did not want to expose her to public disgrace, he had in mind to divorce her quietly. But after he had considered this, an angel of the Lord appeared to him in a dream and said,

“Joseph son of David, do not be afraid to take Mary home as your wife, because what is conceived in her is from the Holy Spirit. She will give birth to a Son, and you are to give Him the name Jesus, because He will save His people from their sins.”

All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had said through the prophet:

“The virgin will conceive and give birth to a Son, and they will call Him Immanuel” (which means ‘God with us’).”

Suddenly, he knew what to do, *|FNAME|*!

When Joseph woke up, he did what the angel of the Lord had commanded him and took Mary home as his wife.

But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a Son. And he gave Him the name Jesus. (Matthew 1:18-25)

Joseph could have dumped her, but chose to believe instead.
… and I wonder if her groom’s arrival was still a surprise to Mary.
