Many of us will have trouble with the new year – at least for the first few days. Because we’ve been writing “2016” for the last year, and change in our routine doesn’t come easy. We’ve developed a habit and have been running on autopilot. However, we must let go of the Old to fully enjoy the New.
The same is true for your New Life in Christ. You must learn to let go of the Old You in order to walk as the New You. And all habits – good or bad – don’t die easily.
On the 8th Day of Christmas, my True Love gave me New Life.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come:
The old has gone, the new is here! (2 Corinthians 5:17)
But because of his great love for us, God, who is rich in mercy, made us alive with Christ even when we were dead in transgressions—it is by grace you have been saved. And God raised us up with Christ and seated us with him in the heavenly realms in Christ Jesus, in order that in the coming ages he might show the incomparable riches of his grace, expressed in his kindness to us in Christ Jesus. (Ephesians 2:4-7)
… when you heard about Christ and were taught in him in accordance with the truth that is in Jesus. You were taught, with regard to your former way of life, to put off your old self, which is being corrupted by its deceitful desires; to be made new in the attitude of your minds; and to put on the new self, created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness. (Ephesians 4:21-24)
Jesus is our True Love, and He’s the Reason we keep celebrating!
December 25th is the First Day of Christmas, not the last.
“Forget the former things;
do not dwell on the past.
See, I am doing a new thing!
Now it springs up; do you not perceive it?
I am making a way in the wilderness
and streams in the wasteland.” (Isaiah 43:18-19)
