True love enjoys being a blessing. However, envy can get in the way if we let it. We often use jealousy and envy interchangeably. However, they are not the same.
Jealousy is a three-person word. We feel it when something we already possess (usually a special relationship) is threatened by a third person. God is described as jealous.
Do not worship any other god, for the Lord, whose name is Jealous, is a jealous God. Exodus 34:14
Envy is a two-person word. It’s a feeling of discontent and ill will because of another’s advantages, possessions, and so on. Envy is the resentful dislike of another who has something that one desires.
A heart at peace gives life to the body,
but envy rots the bones. Proverbs 14:30
Resentful dislike (contempt) has no place in love.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
True love enjoys being a blessing & refuses to be envious when blessing comes to someone else.
Kingdom Love. Uncommon Love.
